The Dean Martins of Peak Oil

New Year’s Eve at the end of the decade. A time to play around a little with alcohol and oil, I would think. In the spirit of Dean Martin then, who famously said: I don’t have a drinking problem. I drink, I get drunk, I fall down. No problem! I bring you some of the choicest No Problem! quotes from our peak oil decade, accompanied by rich visual material to get you past midnight.

In a June report, CERA said it believed that between now and 2010 there will be a substantial increase in worldwide oil production capacity, providing a supply cushion of 6 million to 7.5 million barrels per day that could cause oil prices to “slip well below $40 a barrel as 2007-08 nears.” –2005

“The tar sands of Alberta alone contain enough hydrocarbon to fuel the entire planet for over 100 years,” according to Peter Huber, co-author of “The Bottomless Well.”  –2006

‘Michael C. Lynch, president, Strategic Energy & Economic Research Inc., differs from the generally pessimistic consensus on Mexico. “I think Mexico will probably surprise many,” he said.’ – 2009

  • pretty well understood historically, at least in asia, that humans do not know the future ... those that do, are called sages, and revered ..

since we know no one knows, we are free of the encumberance of the status quo thinking of our time ..

as to whether anything can be changed thereby, that same eastern wisdom says life moves of its own accord, and we can do nothing ..

    not very american, i know
