That's funny. I am always amused by the "no due respect" construction. It invokes authority. Which is fine, but I'm not sure what you are either saying, or disputing.

There is no Peak oil shortage.

OK just to be clear that is a straw man construction.

Is it the word fossil that you dispute?

G

Gregor, all due respect...but the source of oil is not fossil related, its origins are directly related to impact events. the earth was formed by accretion, its oil was produced in vast quantities eons ago. the earths oil markets are substantial by products of mouthpieces accruing power under a banner of scarcity. There is no Peak oil shortage. there is a shortage of supply outside of cartels...so peak oil is about cartels and their hubris....not about oil.

I wish that were true, or could be true. But I don't see given recently announced policy from Brazil to produce more slowly and that much of the new oil is hard to produce anyway, that Brazil is going to move quickly beyond their current 1.9 Mb/day. They are increasing production so far by about 100 thousand bbls/day, each year. North America has lost oil supply at a rate nearly 3 times that amount since 2003/4. And, that will worsen. Mexico has no options. Canada is pinned down by a shift from conventional to unconventional.

G

It seems as if Brazil will be able to supply the necessary increase in Non-OPEC oil production for North America.
